The 5-gallon water filling machine is a specialized, fully automated bottling system engineered for reusable 18.9L (5 gallon) barrels. It performs end-to-end production operations — from empty barrel loading and thorough sanitation to precision filling and secure capping — within a single enclosed stainless steel frame.
Designed for commercial bottled water factories, this equipment ensures strict hygienic standards, consistent fill accuracy of 99.9%, and reliable 24/7 operation. All contact parts are manufactured from food-grade SUS304 stainless steel, and the entire washing-filling-capping process takes place in a closed tunnel to prevent secondary contamination.

Working Process & Features

This turnkey production line is purpose-built for 5-gallon (18.9L / 20L) reusable PC barrels. It integrates label cutting, decapping, external brushing, internal rinsing, filling, capping, heat shrinking, sleeve labeling, light inspection, bagging and palletizing into one unified system. All stations are connected via a dedicated conveying system to realize uninterrupted, fully automated flow-through production.
1. Pre-Treatment Station
Single-head Auto-adjustable Label Cutter & Decapper
Cap removal is driven by a dedicated pneumatic cylinder for fast, precise motion with simple adjustment. The profile-matched gripper jaws are shaped to fit cap geometry, effectively preventing damage to both barrels and caps, with a simplified structure for easy daily maintenance.
2. Rotary External Barrel Brushing Machine
● Adopts an all-around surround brushing + spraying process, equipped with gear-driven actively rotating brushes (central brush, side brushes and bottom brush).
● Delivers thorough cleaning of the barrel neck, shoulder, body and base with zero dead spots and minimal wear.
● Fully replaces the external washing function of internal rinsers, eliminating cross-contamination between internal and external washing cycles.
● Offers high reliability and adjustable throughput, with two independent washing stations for alkaline solution and finished water respectively.
3. Automatic Barrel Transfer Mechanism
A robotic manipulator handles barrel transfer between the external brushing machine and internal rinser, featuring low energy consumption, precise positioning, and zero relative friction on the barrel bottom.
4. High-Pressure Internal Rinsing System
Adopts high-pressure rinsing technology. Nozzles feature SPRAYINGSTES CO structure to deliver full-coverage spray with no dead corners, ensuring complete sanitation of the barrel interior.
5. In-Line Variable Frequency Filling Machine
● Adopts non-contact, pressure-free filling technology with zero overflow and no return water discharge, reducing water waste and preventing barrel bulging.
● Liquid level is controlled via isobaric sealing technology, ensuring highly accurate and consistent fill levels across all production batches.
6. Cap Sorting & Capping System
● Equipped with a centrifugal cap sorting mechanism with Italian cap sorting and placing technology, compatible with a barrel height tolerance of ±2 cm.
● Uses a stainless steel crawler-type pressing mechanism to achieve uniform, leak-proof sealing for every barrel.
7. Post-Filling Quality Control & Packaging
In-line Light Inspection Station
Integrated quality checkpoint for fill level verification and visible impurity detection before downstream packaging.
Intelligent Steam Heat Shrink Film Machine
● Water tank connects directly to the municipal water supply, with a float-type electronic water level controller for automatic preset water level management.
● Electric heater heats the water; when pressure reaches the adjustable preset range (4–7 bar), the pressure detection circuit triggers automatic power cut-off.
● Heating cycle takes 10–20 minutes, reaching a steam temperature of 140–170°C when ready for operation.
● Fully automatic program control with high-pressure steam storage delivers concentrated, efficient heat flow and completely eliminates incomplete shrinkage defects.
Automatic Sleeve Labeler
Applies branded sleeve labels to finished barrels for product identification and brand presentation.
Automatic Barrel Bagging Machine
Servo-controlled cutting mechanism paired with stepping barrel discharge control for smooth, stable bagging operation.
Automatic Palletizer
Servo/stepping controlled system with a standard stacking capacity of 3 layers. Customizable stacking height and pallet dimensions are available upon special request.
8. Conveying System
Powered by gear motors from reputable domestic brands, matched with high-quality SUS304 stainless steel conveyor belts, ensuring high stability and reliable long-term operation across the entire line.
9. Construction & Control System
● Full SUS304 stainless steel construction All machine frames and wetted parts are precision-manufactured from food-grade SUS304 stainless steel, meeting sanitary standards and offering excellent corrosion resistance.
● Mitsubishi PLC control system The entire production line is controlled by a Japanese Mitsubishi PLC industrial system with stepless variable frequency speed regulation.
